Lon Kruger announced Wednesday the signing of 2021 guards Bijan Cortes and CJ Noland to national letters of intent.
"Bijan and CJ are terrific young men with very supportive families," said Kruger. "We're delighted to have them become a part of the Sooner family. Both of them are highly-skilled players who are also incredible leaders on and off the court. We're sure they'll have outstanding senior seasons and look forward to them joining us soon."
A 6-3 point guard from Kingfisher, Okla., Cortes is a four-star recruit on ESPN.com and three-star prospect according to Rivals and 247Sports. A top-25 point guard on 247Sports, Cortes averaged 21.9 points, 5.8 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals for Kingfisher High School last season. He shot 58% from the field, 51% from 3-point range and 82% from the foul line.
Cortes was a 2020 First Team 4A All-State selection while also being named player of the year in the Western Athletic Conference, Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Region 1 and Northwest Oklahoma.
He helped lead Kingfisher to state titles in both 2018 and 2019. As a member of Team Griffin, Cortes helped lead his AAU squad to the illustrious 2019 Peach Jam title.
Hailing from Waxahachie, Texas, Noland is a 6-4 wing that is ranked as a four-star by Rivals and 247Sports.Ā
As a junior at Waxahachie High School, Noland averaged 20.0 points per game to go with 7.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals. He shot 54.2% from the field and 73.7% from the foul line.
Noland was a First Team All-District selection as both a sophomore and junior. He was also named to the All-Region team in 2020.
The Dallas Morning News recently named him one of the top five 2021 basketball recruits in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro.
