OU Announces Play4Kay Free Throw Challenge

January 07, 2020 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN – Ahead of OU's Feb. 16 Play4Kay game, the Sooners will participate in the Play4Kay National Free Throw Challenge.

The Sooners will be collecting pledges for every free throw made during games played in the month of February with a goal of collecting $5,000.

This Kay Yow Cancer Fund initiative is how basketball teams across the country are joining forces in raising funds for all cancers affecting women. In 2019, The Sooners raised $1000 through the Free Throw Challenge.

Fans who wish to make a pledge per free throw or make a one-time donation can do so here.

The Sooners will host a survivor celebration prior to the game. The event will include:
  • Two General Admission tickets to the game and reception
  • A pregame reception for you and a guest that includes food and a guest speaker
  • "Pink Carpet" treatment as you arrive at the Lloyd Noble Center
  • A free T-shirt for the cancer survivor
  • A special introduction on the court prior to starting lineups
  • Hold the giant pink ribbon on the court during the national anthem.
Each cancer survivor may bring one guest. For additional tickets to the game and reception, click here. General Admission game tickets are $5 and a ticket package that includes the reception and game ticket are $8.

Space is limited, so please RSVP no later than Friday, Feb. 7.

Additionally, fans can nominate someone who has been an inspiration in their life and help give the "star treatment" at the game.
For being nominated, the Star will automatically receive the following:
  • Pink T-shirt
  • Two free tickets to the game
  • A pre-game meal and reception

Coach Kay Yow was passionate about uniting the nation of coaches, players and the women's basketball community to do something for the greater good that far exceeds wins and losses on the court. The Play4Kay campaign was born in 2007 and continues to grow as it raises funds to support women's cancer research. To date, the fund has allocated more than $5 million towards this goal.

Throughout her time here, Sherri Coale and her staff have been innovators in terms of pushing the Play4Kay efforts forward. Each year, the Play4Kay game generates new excitement and celebrates the survivors that inspire the community.
