STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Oklahoma men's tennis team fell to Mississippi State 4-0 Sunday in Starkville as it wrapped up ITA Kickoff Weekend.

OU moves to 3-3 on the season while Mississippi State improves to 5-2 overall.

The Sooners took the Bulldogs to the wire in doubles, but MSU took the opening point. Stefano Tsorotiotis and Jake van Emburgh fell to MSU's Florian Broska and Nicolas Ocana 6-4 at the top spot, but OU quickly rebounded with a 6-4 win on court three. There, Alex Martinez and Max Stewart worked their way back from a 4-3 deficit and broke Gregor Ramskogler and Alberto Colas at deuce point to capture a victory.

The point was decided on court two, where OU's Mason Beiler and Justin Schlageter fell to Giovanni Oradini and Strickland after a tiebreaker 7-6 (3).

In singles, No. 116 Jochen Bertsch was defeated by Colas 6-2, 6-0 on court five. No. 50 Beiler fell to Broska 6-2, 6-1 on court two and Van Emburgh dropped to No. 15 Oradini 7-5, 6-3 at the top spot.

When play was halted, three Sooners were in third sets. Mandlik was up 2-1 in his final frame on court three. Mandlik took the first set off Ramskogler 6-2 before Ramskogler won set two 6-3 to send the court to a third.

At the No. 4 slot, Martinez dropped his first set to No. 101 Davide Tortora 6-2, but rolled through the second 6-1 to force another frame.

Schlageter was about to start his third set on court six. The freshman took the opening set 6-4 before giving up the second to MSU's Isaac Becroft 6-3.

OU is on the road again for its third straight match against a team from the SEC as the Sooners head to Kentucky on Feb. 2.
