LUBBOCK, Texas – Mandy Simpson had a career night as the Oklahoma women's basketball team battled Texas Tech into overtime, but fell short of the Red Raiders 89-84.
The loss was OU's first on the road in Big 12 play this season, moving the Sooners to 10-8 overall and 3-3 against the league. Texas Tech improves to 13-4 and 2-4 in Big 12 play.
Simpson finished the night with a stuffed stat sheet as she scored a career-high 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting and added nine rebounds and six assists.
For the second time in Big 12 play this season, two players scored 20 or more points as
Taylor Robertson scored 26 and
Madi Williams had a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Gabby Gregory added nine points and eight rebounds in the effort.
The Sooners led the game by as many as 15 points in the third quarter before the Lady Raiders rallied to tie the game at 70-all with 2:05 left in regulation. OU went up 75-70 thanks to a 3-pointer by
Taylor Robertson, but Texas tech used a jumper and a pair of free throws to knot the game again at 75 and send it to overtime.
The Sooners pulled ahead 82-81 on a 3 from Gregory, but the Lady Raiders quickly answered and held OU to just one more score as time ran out.
