Paris and Robinson Face Off in WNBA Playoffs

NORMAN – It's Sooner vs. Sooner in the WNBA Playoffs.

Courtney Paris and the Seattle Storm host Danielle Robinson and the Minnesota Lynx on Wednesday in a single-elimination matchup to open the postseason. Tipoff is slated for 9 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

The winner of Wednesday's matchup will advance to the next single-elimination round, facing either the Las Vegas Aces or Los Angeles Sparks.

A starter in 26 of 34 games, Robinson enters the postseason with averages of 10.1 points, 3.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 43.7 percent from the field. Her 3.7 assists per game ranked 13th in the league.

Paris won the WNBA title with the Storm last season and averaged 0.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in 2018-19, her 10th WNBA season.

The pair played two seasons together at OU, helping the Sooners to the 2009 Final Four and the 2009 Big 12 regular season title. Paris is OU's all-time leading scorer and holds the NCAA record for career double-doubles, while Robinson finished her career as one of three women's college basketball players to cross the 2,000-point, 700-assist and 300-steal benchmarks for her career.

Both players are expected to be in Norman when Oklahoma honors its back-to-back Final Four squads at its season opener on Friday, Nov. 8.
