OU Announces Non-Conference Slate

July 23, 2019 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN – University of Oklahoma women's basketball coach Sherri Coale and Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione released the Sooners' 2019-20 non-conference slate on Tuesday.

The Sooners will be tested early and often during their 14-game non-conference schedule. OU's non-conference slate features at least seven matchups with teams that appeared in the postseason a year ago including three NCAA Tournament teams.

“With nine potential home non-conference games inside the Lloyd Noble Center, our schedule will give fans a multitude of opportunities to watch our team grow and develop,” Coale said. “This schedule is peppered with teams that made the postseason a year ago, which gives us plenty of chances to face elite competition as we prepare to play in the toughest conference in women's basketball.”

OU boasts the return of five starters from last year's squad including All-Big 12 Second Team selection Ana Llanusa and Big 12 All-Freshman Team pick Taylor Robertson.

As a part of the Preseason WNIT, the Sooners will potentially host nine home non-conference games prior to the start of Big 12 play, including 2019 NCAA Tournament teams Abilene Christian and Drake.

Season ticket deposits for the 2019-20 season are on sale now and may be purchased online at SoonerSports.com or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office at (800) 456-GoOU. Single-game tickets and mini plans will go on sale at a later date.

OU begins the 2019-20 season by hosting Oklahoma City University for an exhibition game on Nov. 4 inside Lloyd Noble Center.

As previously announced, Oklahoma will be a host of the Preseason WNIT and play Prairie View A&M (17-14, WNIT First Round) in the first round on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. CT. The Sooners will meet either UAB (26-7, WNIT Second Round) or South Alabama (25-11, WNIT Second Round) in a second-round contest on Nov. 10. The semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 14 with the Preseason WNIT Championship to be televised on CBS Sports Network on Nov. 17. All games will be played on campus sites.

OU hosts Stephen F. Austin (25-7, WNIT First Round) on Nov. 20 before making the first road trip of the season to face Houston (15-16, WNIT First Round) on Nov. 23. The Sooners return to Lloyd Noble Center on Nov. 26 to take on Abilene Christian (23-10, NCAA First Round).

OU hits the road for a two-game road swing as the Sooners travel to Wichita State (12-18) on Nov. 30 before heading to Bowling Green, Ky., to square off against Western Kentucky (20-15, WNIT Third Round) on Dec 4.

The Sooners begin a three-game homestand on Dec. 7 as LSU (16-13) and OU meet for the first time as a part of the 2019 Big 12/SEC Challenge. The home swing also includes matchups with Sam Houston State (16-13) on Dec. 15 and Drake (27-7, NCAA First Round) on Dec. 17.

To wrap up non-conference play, the Sooners travel to Uncasville, Conn., for the 2019 Women's Holiday Showcase to face UConn (35-3, NCAA Final Four) at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

OU's 18-game Big 12 Conference schedule is expected to be announced at a later date. The 2020 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship will take place in Kansas City, Mo., at Municipal Auditorium.

Tip-off times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.
