OU Publications Earn National Honors

NORMAN — Publications by University of Oklahoma Athletics Communications and Graphic Design staffs earned 11 awards in the 2018-19 CoSIDA Publications and Digital Design Contest, the professional organization announced Monday. Two of those honored, the 2018 women's soccer poster and the 2018 Orange Bowl guide, won best-in-the-nation awards, while two publications, the 2018-19 women's basketball media guide and the 2018 football media guide, won best cover.
Mike Houck, Eric Hollier and Patrick Dunn took the top award for postseason media guides while Alex Eisbrener created the award-winning soccer poster. Eisbrener and Tyler Pigg were recognized for the women's basketball cover while Geoff Rogers and Houck earned the best cover award for the football media guide.
Other award winners for OU during the 2018-19 academic year included second place for the women's basketball guide (Pigg and Eisbrener) and the football poster (Rogers), and third place for the men's basketball media guide (Ben Coldagelli, Houck and Rogers) and men's basketball poster (Rogers). Houck, Hollier and Dunn finished fourth in the nation for fall game notes (football) and Rogers took fourth for the volleyball poster.
Earlier, Jessica Coody of SoonerSportsTV and former department staff member Chelsey Kraft were named the national award winners in the Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest. Their story with video, "The Butterfly Connection," took top honors in the category. Kraft also received a best in district in the general feature category for her story, "Winning an Unseen Battle."
OU finished second among all University entrants in the publication and design contests.
