OU Joins Preseason WNIT Field

NORMAN – Oklahoma will participate in the 2019 Preseason Women's Basketball National Invitation Tournament, organizing body Triple Crown Sports announced on Thursday.

The Sooners join the 16-team field that includes: Boise State, Davidson, DePaul, Drexel, Miami (Ohio), Missouri State, Oregon State, Pacific, Prairie View A&M, South Alabama, Texas A&M-CC, UAB, UC Irvine and UMKC. Twelve teams in the field made the postseason during the 2018-19 season.

The Preseason WNIT features a three-game guarantee format for the field. All games are hosted by the participating schools. The official tournament bracket with first-round opponents, game dates and times will be announced next month.

This marks Oklahoma's fifth appearance in the Preseason WNIT. The Sooners last participated in the Preseason WNIT during the 2013-14 season, finishing as the runner-up to Louisville.

OU returns all five starters in 2019-20, including All-Big 12 Second Team selection Ana Llanusa and Big 12 All-Freshman honoree Taylor Robertson, and welcomes the nation's No. 11-ranked recruiting class according to Prospects Nation. The Sooners' full non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
