NORMAN – Former Sooner guards Aaryn Ellenberg and Gabbi Ortiz helped her their respective teams to league titles over the past week to complete their professional seasons in Europe.
Ellenberg guided MBK Ruzomberok to the Slovakian league title by winning the best-of-three series last week. The Las Vegas native scored 16 points in the deciding game-three win, while adding six rebounds and four assists.
With MBK Ruzomberok, Ellenberg helped her squad to 10 straight wins to close out the season. She averaged 15.0 points per game and 3.6 assists per contest, while hitting a team-high 49 3-pointers in her second season with the Slovakian club.
In her first season professionally, Ortiz played key role in CBD Clarino's league championship. Ortiz averaged 10.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest as a rookie. Ortiz scored 16 points in CBD Clarino's 63-41 win over Almeria on Sunday. She nailed a team-high 63 treys and shot .394 from 3-point range this season.
With the victory, Ortiz and CBD Clarinos will be promoted to the top league in Spanish basketball for the 2019-20 season. Ortiz plans to play this summer for the Wisconsin GLO in the Global Women's Basketball Association.
