OU Collects Three Wins in First Spring Action

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma rowing team returned to the water for their first regatta of the 2019 spring season on Sunday in Cherry Hill, N.J., at the Cooper Sprints on Cooper River.
The Sooners were strong in their first competitive action of the spring, collecting three first-place finishes.
In the novice eight final, the Sooners' boat took first over Rutgers, Villanova and Massachusetts with a time of 7:17.84 to collect OU's first win of the morning.
OU's first varsity eight advanced to the sprints' petite final with a third-place finish in its heat with a time of 6:53.26. The 1V8 then took first in the final, crossing the line in 6:40.54 to claim the Sooners second victory of the day.
The squad's second varsity eight won the second heat of 2V8 competition (6:55.46) in the morning to advance to the grand final. The 2V8 followed up the heat victory with a fourth-place finish against tough competition, finishing in 6:50.01.
Oklahoma's 1V4 recorded the teams third and final victory of the regatta with a 7:41.41 finish in the varsity four petite final.
