NORMAN – Sophomore first baseman Tyler Hardman stayed hot, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Oklahoma baseball team to an 8-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Hardman, the reigning Big 12 Player of the Week after batting .429 last week, and junior shortstop Brandon Zaragoza, who went 3-for-4 and scored a run, led a 15-hit attack by the Sooners (7-1). Junior third baseman Conor McKenna was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and senior left fielder Blake Brewster drove in two runs.

Freshman Ben Abram (2-0) was solid again in his second start, striking out four batters and allowing just three hits and no walks in 4.0 innings, to earn the win in a scheduled short start. Senior Ryan Madden (2.1 innings), junior Braxton Webb (0.2 innings), sophomore Aaron Brooks (1.0 inning) and sophomore Jake Terry (1.0 inning) closed out the shutout for OU.

Oklahoma manufactured a run in the second inning, as McKenna singled and scored on a groundout by junior right fielder Brady Harlan. The Sooners broke through for four runs in the third, with RBIs by Hardman, McKenna and Cavalli. Cavalli tripled into deep right center to drive home McKenna for the fourth run of the inning.

OU added a run in the sixth on Hardman's third hit of the day – an RBI single to left that scored sophomore second baseman Tanner Tredaway and made the score 6-0. Brewster drove in two more runs in the seventh when he stroked a base hit to right field. Harlan and freshman center fielder Milan Walla, who went 2-for-3 in the game, scored on the play.

Freshman Diego Muniz knocked a pinch hit single through the infield in the eighth inning for his first collegiate hit. Junior college transfer Luke Price singled in his first at bat at OU, also in the eighth.

The Golden Lions (1-7) managed to get a runner to second base only twice, and never reached third. In the third inning after a single and stolen base, Abram ended the inning with a strikeout and lineout. In the seventh with two runners on base, Webb got a pop up and strikeout to close the frame. Catchers Justin Mitchell and Brady Lindsly each threw out a runner trying to steal second. UAPB starter Peyton Burks (0-3) allowed one run in 2.0 innings in the loss.

OU and UAPB will play again Wednesday at L. Dale Mitchell Park. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.

The schedule for Oklahoma's four-game series against Columbia this weekend at L. Dale Mitchell Park has been changed to doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday due to forecast inclement weather. Games will begin at 1 p.m. each day.
