NORMAN — On Cleveland Elementary Day in Norman, the No. 1 ranked Oklahoma men's gymnastics team claimed its 109th consecutive victory, topping No. 3 Michigan inside a packed McCasland Field House by a score of 424.050-411.200. OU notched all six event titles as a team and Sooner gymnasts claimed or took home a share of all six individual event crowns. Senior co-captain Yul Moldauer won the all-around with an impressive 88.300.
"I love the energy when we have Cleveland in the building, it's a special event,” said Oklahoma head coach Mark Williams. “I was happy with our team's performance. We really only had one mistake the whole meet and showed improvement in a lot of places. I was happy with our (pommel) horse team after having a couple of rough outings on the road. I just hope that we can use this as a springboard going forward and continue to perform at a high level the last half of the season."
The Sooners began the afternoon on floor exercise, posting a tally of 71.100. Moldauer, making his 2019 NCAA all-around debut, paced OU with an NCAA season-high 15.300. Junior Tanner Justus and senior Levi Anderson chipped in solid routines of 14.300 and 14.100, respectively. Both were also season highs for the upperclassmen.
Moving to pommel horse in the second rotation, Oklahoma scored 68.250, just two-tenths of a point from a
"It's always exciting when you get a big opportunity to do the all-around,” said defending NCAA all-around champion Moldauer. “I couldn't do it without the guys always pushing me in the gym and watching out for whatever is best for me. I give a lot of credit to them, the coaches and our staff. All of those guys have made a big impact. It's always nice to have a great support system and to go compete in a packed gym.”
OU put up 71.050 on still rings in the third rotation, topping Michigan's 65.600 by over five points. Pacing the Sooners once again was Moldauer with a 14.850. Senior rings specialist Jake Maloley set a career high, tallying 14.350. Fellow senior Peter Daggett swung a 14.400 to do his part in the rotation.
On arguably the Sooners best event, OU showed little to no weakness on vault, posting a season-best 73.450. The score ranks as the top tally on the event of the NCAA season. Every Oklahoma gymnast went 14.550-plus, led by Anderson's season-best 14.800. The score brought home a share of the event crown for the senior co-captain.
"It really helps me when I perform, knowing that I get to walk in the gym every day with the best people around me. It's a blessing to compete for OU."

Another season-best event score came in the fifth rotation on parallel bars for OU, notching a 69.900. Moldauer wowed the crowd yet again with a 15.100 routine to lead the Sooners. Daggett topped his previous season-high of 14.050 with a 14.100 set.
Heading into the final rotation with the meet in hand by over ten points, the Sooners left no doubt by recording a season-high 70.300 on high bar. Anderson won his second event of the afternoon, sticking a 14.600 to cap the meet. Sophomore Gage Dyer contributed with a career-high 14.550.
Moldauer won his first all-around title of the 2019 NCAA season and seventh career in collegiate competition in dominant fashion, posting an 88.300. The tally ranks as the top AA score of 2019 and the best since 2017 when former OU gymnast Allan Bower put up an 88.750.
“It really helps me when I perform, knowing that I get to walk in the gym every day with the best people around me,” concluded Moldauer. “It's a blessing to compete for OU.”
The Sooners take a week off before welcoming No. 5 Illinois to Norman for Senior Night on Saturday, March 9, at 4 p.m. CT. The meet will honor the nine members of the class of 2019.
