Joe Castiglione announced the 2020 OU tennis schedule Thursday.
The Sooners' highly-competitive schedule features matchups with 12 teams who qualified for the 2019 NCAA Championships and 11 teams who finished the season in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's top 30. 13 of OU's matches will be played at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
"We are very excited to announce the spring 2020 schedule," said Crowell. "This year has us playing one of the most challenging schedules in the country while also playing a lot of high-quality matches on our home courts at the Headington Family Tennis Center. We love playing at home and invite all of our fans to come out and cheer on your Sooners."
OU opens the season with a four-match homestand. The Sooners host Abilene Christian on Jan. 11; NCAA Sweet 16 team Tennessee on Jan. 12; and a doubleheader with Bryant and Oral Roberts on Jan. 20.
The Sooners hit the road for ITA Kickoff Weekend in Starkville, Miss., Jan. 25-26. The stacked regional features four teams who finished in last year's ITA top 25. No. 2 seed OU will face No. 3 South Carolina while top-seeded Georgia and No. 4 Mississippi State square off on the other side of the bracket. The winners of those matches will face each other Jan. 27 with a trip to the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships (held Feb. 14-17 in Madison, Wis.) on the line.
The Sooners will be on the road Feb. 2 for a meeting with Kentucky before returning home to face Arkansas (Feb. 7) and San Diego (Feb. 9).
For the third straight year, OU will play a match at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla., when then face Florida State on Feb. 28.
Oklahoma then hosts four straight home matches during the month of March: Pepperdine (March 2), UMKC (March 7) and back-to-back contests with Nebraska and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on March 8.
The Sooners head to T-Town to face in-state rival Tulsa on March 11 before a trip to Cornell on March 15. OU closes out nonconference play with an NCAA second round rematch with Texas A&M on March 20 at home.
A challenging Big 12 slate begins on the road at Texas (March 27) and TCU (March 29). OU heads to Stillwater for Bedlam on April 3, then hosts Texas Tech (April 9) and Baylor (April 11).
The 2020 Big 12 Men's Tennis Championships will be held at Oklahoma State April 16-19.
NCAA Regionals are set for May 1-3, with the winners advancing to Super Regionals May 9-10. Regionals and Super Regionals will take place at campus sites. Team Championships will be held May 14-20 in Stillwater, Okla., with singles and doubles competitions running May 20-23.
