NORMAN – With the 2020 season just around the corner, the defending national champion Oklahoma women's gymnastics team is ready to show off its routines at its annual intrasquad, scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be held at the Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center and is free and open to the public.
The Sooners will perform full routines on all four events and be judged in front of fans. The first 250 fans will receive free pizza while supplies last. There will also be post-meet autographs available to those in attendance. Additionally, those who wish to purchase season tickets will have an opportunity to do so on-site. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to get seats and enjoy free pizza prior to the beginning of the meet.
OU's roster this season includes 11 returners from the 2019 NCAA Championship squad, including six gymnasts who combined for 11 All-America honors in seniors
Jade Degouveia and
Maggie Nichols, juniors
Karrie Thomas,
Anastasia Webb and
Carly Woodard and sophomore
Olivia Trautman. Nichols returns as the two-time defending all-around champion. In addition to the returners, the Sooners have added newcomers Vanessa Deniz, Jenna Dunn, Erin Hutchison, Ragan Smith and Brooke Weins.
The Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center is located in Norman north of the Lloyd Noble Center by the intersection of S. Jenkins Ave. and Imhoff Ave. Parking is available across the street at the Lloyd Noble Center.
The Sooners will open the 2020 season at the Collegiate Challenge in Anaheim, Calif., where they will face UCLA, Cal and Stanford. The home slate opens on Jan. 20 at 1:30 p.m. CT. against Arkansas at Lloyd Noble Center. Fans can snag season tickets to catch every moment of OU's exciting home slate which also features contests against Iowa State (Jan. 31), West Virginia (Feb. 14), TWU (Feb. 14), Denver (Feb. 29) and Michigan (March 6). NCAA Regionals will also be held in Norman, April 2-4.
Season tickets for the 2020 season are currently available for purchase. Tickets are available for $40 for general admission and $60 for reserved seating, which will reserve a seat location for the entire season. Youth (6-18) and senior (55+) season tickets will be $30. Discounted tickets are available for $5 for groups of 10 or more. Group tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours prior to the event.
