Ana Llanusa led all scorers with 27 points to go with four rebounds and four steals as the Oklahoma women's basketball team downed Oklahoma City 88-68 in an exhibition game Monday night at Lloyd Noble Center. Llanusa shot 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-6 from 3-point range.
"I really like our team. I like how we compete," said OU head coach
Sherri Coale. "I like how we are with one another. I thought we shared the ball really well. It was overall a really good learning experience for our team.
"I appreciate (OCU head coach) Bo (Overton) and the job that he does and the fact that he will bring his team in here to compete with us so we could learn some things about ourselves and get the jitters out of the way before the season actually opens. We appreciate him and their squad. It was a good challenge for us and we learned a lot."
LlanusaĀ said it was good to be back on the court.
"I think I just like the energy I came out with," said Llanusa. "I had fun, lots of fun. I was just excited to be back out there."
Sophomore guard
Taylor Robertson picked up where she left off in her rookie campaign by sinking six 3-pointers en route to 20 points.
Sophomore forward
Madi Williams contributed 13 points with eight boards.
The Sooners never trailed in their season debut and shot 46.2% from the field and 48% (12-of-25) from long range.
On the defensive end, OU forced 22 OCU turnovers.
The 2019-20 regular season opens Friday, Nov. 8 when the Sooners host Prairie View A&M In the first round of the Preseason WNIT. The season opener tips at 8 p.m. CT on FOX Sports Oklahoma.Ā
Members of OU's 2009 and 2010 Final Four teams will be in attendance at the game as part of the squads' reunion in Norman the weekend of Nov. 8. A meet and greet with the alumni will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. CT Friday in the women's basketball practice gym at the Lloyd Noble Center prior to tip.
