NORMAN – University of Oklahoma alumnus Colin Van Wicklen is set to compete for Team USA at the 2019 FIG World Cup in Cottbus, Germany, this week.Ā

Van Wicklen, along with fellow Team USA members Stephen Nedoroscik (Penn State) and Donnell Whittenburg (USOPTC) will take part in the final competition of the 2019 FIG World Cup Series beginning tomorrow, Nov. 21, through Sunday, Nov. 24. The series is an opportunity for gymnasts to earn points toward individual Olympic qualification for the 2020 Games in Tokyo.Ā

"I'm super excited," said Van Wicklen. "I worked so hard for the selection camp for World Championships and after being named an alternate I was really motivated to continue to train and get the opportunity to represent the United States. This is going to be a great opportunity for me to show my routines and show the national team what I can do."

"I'm hoping to make as many event finals as I can, come away with a medal or two and ride that feeling into 2020 and all the way up to Olympic trials." - Colin Van Wicklen

Van Wicklen, a U.S. Senior Men's National Team member and 2018 World Championships team member, is slated to compete on floor exercise, still rings, vault, parallel bars and high bar at the meet.Ā

Finals for floor, horse and rings will be Saturday at 7 a.m., while the vault, p-bars and high bar finals are scheduled for Sunday at 7 a.m.
