NORMAN — The No. 5 Oklahoma men's golf team holds a share of first place after the opening round at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played Friday-Sunday (Nov.1 – Nov. 3) at the par-71, 6,700-yard Royal Ka'anapali Course at the Ka'anapali Golf Club in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i.

The Sooners are tied with Kansas in first after carding a 268 (-16) during Friday's round. UCLA is in third after recording a 269 (-15) in the first round, while Liberty has sole possession of fourth place at 272 (-12). West Virginia rounds out the top five at 11-under (273).

Senior Garett Reband led OU during the opening round posting a 64 (-7). Reband's bogey free round tied his record low. The Fort Worth native is tied for first.

Fellow Senior Quade Cummins earned a bogey-free round as well. Cummins fired a 65 (-6) matching his record low round to finish the day tied for third.

Sophomore Patrick Welch holds a share of 23rd, recording a 68 (-3) on Friday. Welch logged two four birdies during his round.

Sophomore Logan McAllister posted an even-par 71 in the opening round and is tied for 57th. Senior Thomas Johnson sits in a tie for 80th place after posting an eagle and recording a 73 (+2) on Friday.

Freshman Turner Hosch is competing as an individual at the event. Hosch shot a 69 (-2). The freshman fired an eagle on the front nine and is tied for 33rd after 18 holes.
The second round of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic is slated to begin Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT with a shotgun start.
