Halloween Carnival Moved to McCasland

October 28, 2019 | Baseball, Athletics, Softball

NORMAN – Due to the forecast of inclement weather on Wednesday, the annual Oklahoma baseball-softball Halloween Game will not be played, and the BOOmer Fest carnival will take place in McCasland Field House prior to the OU volleyball match against No. 3 Baylor.

BOOmer Fest will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. behind the stands on the north end of the volleyball court, featuring carnival mini games, face painting and trick or treating for kids. Fans planning to attend BOOmer Fest will need a ticket to the volleyball match, and those wearing a Halloween costume can purchase a half-price ticket at the door for $5. BOOmer Fest is hosted by OU's Student-Athlete Innovative Leaders (SAIL). OU baseball and softball student-athletes will be in attendance in costume.

The OU baseball and softball programs continue the fundraising campaign with the Vs. Cancer Foundation to support The Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center. The fundraiser, which typically culminates with the intersquad scrimmage each year, will conclude with BOOmer Fest on Wednesday. All donations should be made online (no donations will be accepted on site Wednesday).

Last year, the Sooners raised more than $15,000 for OU Children's for the Halloween Game, including $2,350 donated by Landers Auto Group during the home run derby following the exhibition contest.

Overall, Oklahoma baseball and softball have raised more than $112,000 for Vs. Cancer and OU Children's since 2014. OU baseball teamed with Vs. Cancer in its "Shave for the Brave" campaign from 2014-16, raising more than $80,000 to benefit the foundation's research to eliminate childhood cancers and the OU Children's Hospital.

Additional Costume Information

The OU Athletics clear bag policy and walk-through metal detectors will be in effect at the volleyball match and BOOmer Fest. More information can be found here.
