Champions Spotlight: Larry & Suzy Lemon

October 25, 2019 | Athletics

At Oklahoma, we celebrate the investments of creators and innovators who commit to the constant pursuit of excellence. Sooner Magic is created by generations of Sooners like Larry and Susan LemonĀ who continue to contribute to the university they love.

For the Lemons, crimson and cream runs deep in their bloodlines. Larry's parents, Haskell and Irene, both graduated fromĀ the University of Oklahoma. Following in their footsteps, Larry graduated from OU with his bachelor's and master's in businessĀ while Susan earned her bachelor's degree in education.

It wasn't a surprise that the Lemons would become philanthropists, as giving back runs in Larry's family. Haskell and Irene, Larry's parents, were an Oklahoma City couple who believed in "education for everyone". Their names are linked with one of the largest gifts of scholarships and program support in the history of the University of Oklahoma College of Architecture.Ā They have recently supported the creation of OU's Gene Rainbolt Graduate School of Business located in Oklahoma City.

Larry and Susan have a strong dedication to OU Athletics, as they continue to make donations to the Sooner Club.

"The University runs such a quality program with all sports that we feel good about being a part of it," says Larry. Members since 2011, the Lemons have helped with multiple capital projects including Headington Hall, Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium South End Zone project and the Softball Stadium project. Their gift to Headington Hall was recognized with the naming of "The Suzy and Larry Lemon Game Room" while their South End Zone Stadium donation was recognized with the naming of the National Championship Trophy Display in the Switzer Center.

Larry and Susan's passion to the University of Oklahoma is undeniable. "It's nice to help the next generation of student-athletes become leaders that help the University," said Larry. The Lemons' support, passion and commitment represents the true meaning of being a Champion of Magic.
