A Letter from Coach Hybl

Sooner Nation:
What an incredible time to be a Sooner! I am so thankful every day for the opportunity to represent our great University on the golf course with our players and staff and to showcase what it truly means to be a Sooner. Our 2019-20 campaign is already underway, and we have gotten off to a great start. This team has already won a huge event, The Nike Collegiate Invitational, out in in Portland, Oregon, just a few weeks ago against one of the best fields in the country. Currently, we are ranked No. 1 in the country, and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
Our mission is to become the greatest golf program in the country. I would like to explain from a coach's point of view why this mission is not attainable without your help. I arrived at OU in the summer of 2009 knowing that we needed some significant work to help build our brand back up in the college golf world. Obviously, great players help the cause, but in order to get great players our facilities needed a huge upgrade. We formulated a plan that we thought could help differentiate us from the rest in college golf, but plans on paper always seem good until you actually have to go raise the funds to implement the plan. A great man who loves this University and the game of golf, Jerry Ransom, has generously allowed our golf program to get to the next level with a significant gift. With Mr. Ransom's gift and the generosity of several others, we were able to implement the plan mentioned above, and we created one of the best practice facilities in the country, The Ransom Short Course. As we continue our constant pursuit of excellence, my goals still remain to become the greatest golf program in the country, and we cannot afford to be stagnant with our vision.
The ability to be part of something great, like the Sooner Club, allows our stakeholders to be invested in the process of building a foundation that can withstand the test of time. We cannot thank you enough for your continued support of our Athletic Department and the University of Oklahoma. Donor support is a must for every team on campus to keep raising the bar. This is a beautiful time in our Athletic Department, and we want you to know that without your help, none of this would be possible.
