CEDAR FALLS, Iowa The Oklahoma wrestling team fell to No. 16 Northern Iowa 28-9 Sunday in Cedar Falls.

Three Sooners picked up victories in the contest. At 133 pounds, Anthony Madrigal got a 6-4 win over Jack Skudlarczyk. The bout was tied at 3-all late in the second, but Madrigal got an escape with just seconds remaining to take a 4-3 lead into the final period. Skudlarczyk used an escape to tie it again at 4-4, but Madrigal got a takedown as the clock expired to win it 6-4.

Wrestling at 157, Justin Thomas defeated UNI's Paden Moore 6-3. Thomas trailed 2-1 in the first period before scoring a takedown at the whistle to take a 3-2 lead. The Sooner started the second on bottom and quickly escaped to go up 4-2. Thomas sealed the deal with a takedown at the end of the second for a 6-2 lead. Moore added an escape in the second, but Thomas rode him out to win it 6-3.  

Jake Woodley got a 4-2 win against Tyrell Gordon in the 187 bout. After a scoreless first period, Woodley started the second on bottom and got an escape. Gordon tied it at 1-all in the third, but Woodley answered with a takedown with under a minute left in the period. Gordon escaped, but Woodley was awarded a penalty point and earned a 4-2 victory.

At 125, Moody was pinned by Jay Schwarm in 4:19. No. 11 Dom Demas was defeated by UNI's Josh Aber 5-4 in the 141 bout. Davion Jeffries (149) was defeated by Max Thomsen in a major decision 13-4. At 165, Hayden Hansen was defeated by Bryce Steiert in a tech fall in 4:49 (18-1).

Anthony Mantanona (174) suffered a narrow loss to Taylor Lujan, 13-10. Kayne MacCallum was defeated by UNI's Drew Foster in a 12-4 major decision in the 184 bout. In the heavyweight battle, Jake Boyd dropped to Carter Isley 7-1.
