Nine Sooners Earn Scholastic All-America Status

NORMAN ? Nine members of the 2018 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team have added to an already impressive season for the Sooners as they received Scholastic All-America honors from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
OU has now captured at least five spots on the Scholastic All-America listing for 12 straight years. Under head coach K.J. Kindler, Oklahoma gymnasts have earned a total of 88 awards from the WCGA.
For the fourth consecutive season, Stefani Catour earned a spot on the list, while rising seniors Brenna Dowell and Nicole Lehrmann picked up honors for the third time.
Maggie Nichols and Brehanna Showers were named All-Americans for the second time, while AJ Jackson and Natalie Brown were first time honorees. 2018 freshmen Jordan Draper and Evy Schoepfer both picked up Scholastic All-America honors following their first collegiate season.?
To earn WCGA Scholastic All-America honors, a gymnast must attain a cumulative or yearly grade point average of 3.5 or better.
Ten?Sooners were named Academic All-Big 12 selections in 2018, the most in the conference. In addition, the Sooners were one of five OU programs to be recognized for posting a perfect 1,000 multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR), accomplishing the feat for the fifth consecutive year. The program finished the spring semester with a 3.52 team GPA.
