Schibler Named Academic All-American

June 14, 2018 | Men's Gymnastics

NORMAN – Oklahoma gymnast Brian Schibler has been named to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-America second team, the organization announced Thursday.

Schibler becomes the sixth OU men's gymnast all time to earn Academic All-America honors and the first since Russell Czeschin in 2009.

The redshirt junior, who is double majoring in biomedical sciences and Spanish, finished the semester with a 4.0 grade point average. He is one of seven second team honorees with a perfect GPA.

A pommel horse specialist, Schibler was a consistent presence in OU's lineup. He participated in all 10 meets, including NCAA Championships, and posted a career-high three marks of 14.000 or higher this year.

In addition to being a crucial member of this season's national championship squad, the Chesterfield, Mo., native has garnered multiple academic honors in 2018. He was named an MPSF Scholar Athlete and to the Academic All-Big 12 At-Large and Academic All-District teams at the conclusion of the season.
