NORMAN – University of Oklahoma baseball junior Steele Walker has been named to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List. The Golden Spikes Award is presented by USA Baseball for the top amateur player in the country. Walker entered the season on the award's preseason watch list.

A 2017 All-Big 12 First Team selection, Walker has made 54 starts for the Sooners this season and leads the team in batting average, home runs, runs scored, RBI, hits, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. Walker ranks in the top 100 nationally in 10 statistical categories.
Walker, who was a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American in 2016, leads the Sooners with a .352 average and has hit 13 home runs along with 53 RBI. The Prosper, Texas, native has doubled 13 times and recorded 76 hits, while posting a .608 slugging percentage.
Oklahoma last had a player on the Golden Spikes Semifinalist list in 2016. Shortstop/right-handed pitcher Sheldon Neuse was among 25 players on the semifinalist list.
Walker is one of three Big 12 players that were named as semifinalists. Texas' Kody Clemens and Texas Tech's Josh Jung were also selected.
Finalists will be announced on June 6 and the Golden Spikes Award presented on June 22.
