Ten Gymnasts Named to the Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team

NORMAN – Ten members of the 2018 Mountain Pacific Champion (MPSF) Oklahoma men's gymnastics team were named to the Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Redshirt freshman Isamu Ito, sophomore Collyn Kellogg, juniors Levi Anderson, Eric Holley, Jake Maloley, Brian Schibler and Genki Suzuki, and seniors Hunter Justus and Reese Rickett earned first-team honors. Junior Grant Kell was named to the second team.
Holley, Kellogg, Schibler and Suzuki were all nominated with a 4.0 GPA.
To qualify for the Academic All-Big 12 At-Large team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulatively or over the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
The Sooners won their seventh consecutive MPSF conference title to kick off the postseason last weekend. Led by Yul Moldauer's school-record five conference titles, the Sooners posted a 414.050 and 14 top-three finishes en route to their 25th conference title in program history.
OU turns its attention to the NCAA Championships as it looks for its fourth straight title and 12th overall. Only two other men's gymnastics programs, Illinois from 1939 to 1942 and Nebraska from 1979 to 1982, have won at least four NCAA titles in a row. Championship weekend starts Friday, April 20 with the preliminary round at UIC Pavilion in Chicago, followed by the finals the next day.
