Sooners Earn 10 Regular Season All-America Honors

NORMAN — Five members of the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team combined to secure 10 regular season All-America honors from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W).

Senior AJ Jackson, juniors Brenna Dowell and Nicole Lehrmann, sophomore Maggie Nichols and freshman Anastasia Webb all received recognition from the association.

In the six years that regular season All-America accolades have been awarded, Oklahoma has totaled double-digit honors five times.

Regular season All-America honors are based on an individual's final regional qualifying score (RQS) prior to regional competition. First team honorees are ranked 1-8 nationally, and second team designees are ranked 9-16.

Nichols paced the Sooners for the second straight year with five first-team honors, earning a spot on the teams for all four events and in the all-around. Nichols, the Big 12 Gymnast of the Year, has held the top individual all-around spot all season.

Dowell was named an All-American on a pair of events, earning first-team honors on vault and second-team honors on bars. Dowell has now earned six total accolades in her career.

Jackson, Lehrmann and Webb also earned recognition from the NACGC/W. Jackson tallied her fifth-career accolade with second-team recognition on vault. Lehrmann tallied her third-straight award with a first-team honor on bars. Webb, the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, earned second-team recognition in the all-around.

The No. 1 overall seed Sooners will next compete at the NCAA Minneapolis Regional, where they will face No. 12 Kentucky, No. 13 Denver, Minnesota, Iowa State and Iowa on Saturday, April 7. The regional is set to begin at 4 p.m. CT inside Maturi Pavilion. Tickets are available for purchase online.
