NORMAN – Oklahoma wrestling's season officially came to a close on Friday, as senior Yoanse Mejias fell in the consolation round at the NCAA Championships in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mejias was one of four Sooners who competed this week inside the Quicken Loans Arena. The others, senior Dawaylon Barnes, junior Davion Jeffries and redshirt-sophomore Christian Moody, were eliminated on Thursday after losing twice.
On Friday, Mejias dropped his consolation bout to Josef Johnson of Harvard by decision, 2-1, in overtime. The loss dropped the Miami, Fla., native to 29-11 overall on the season, ending his career at Oklahoma with a mark of 40-19.
Oklahoma finished its season at 8-11 overall.
