LOS ANGELES The No. 13 Oklahoma men's tennis team faced its second loss of the season at UCLA, falling to the No. 3 Bruins, 5-2.

The Sooners put together a dominant performance in doubles to grab the opening point for OU, but it was UCLA that controlled singles action, winning on five courts to capture the match. With the loss, the Sooners move to 12-2 on the season, while UCLA improves to 16-2, 2-0 Pac-12.

Friday marked the OU's fifth meeting with a ranked opponent in five matches, and the Sooners are now 3-2 in those contests.

"I was very pleased with our doubles level today. We came to play early and finished off a good UCLA team in doubles at #1 and #2. When we come out aggressive and with energy like today, good things can happen," said head coach Nick Crowell. "UCLA played very well in the singles today. Give credit to them. They got on us early. We fought back and had opportunities that we did not capitalize on and that was the difference today."

In doubles play, Bakshi and Van Emburgh rolled to a 6-2 victory over Martin Redlicki and Evan Zhu in the top spot.

Oetzbach and Calvo make quick work of No. 24 Austin Rapp and Keegan Smith on court two, winning 6-3, to seal the point for the Sooners.

When play was abandoned, James Davis and Max Stewart trailed Maxime Cressy and Bryce Pereira, 5-3.

Stewart grabbed OU's sole singles win of the day, claiming a 7-6 (5), 6-2, victory over Cressy from the No. 5 line. The freshman has now won his last five consecutive matches.

No. 91 Bakshi was defeated by No. 3 Redlicki, 6-4, 6-3, on court one, just his second loss on the year.

Davis also faced his first loss of the season at the hands of Connor Hance, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6 singles. Van Emburgh's seven-match winning streak came to an end when he fell to No. 58 Smith on court three, 6-2, 7-6 (3).

At No. 2 Oetzbach fell to No. 117 Zhu, 6-3, 6-4.

The Sooners return to the Headington Family Tennis Center to host a pair of matches, beginning Saturday, March 24 with UMKC at 2 p.m. and followed by Fresno State on Monday, March 26 at 3 p.m.
