NOTES AND NUMBERS FOR MEET ONE

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team returns to Lloyd Noble Center this weekend to host Big 12 foe No. 15 Iowa State and TWU. The meet is slated for a 2:45 p.m. CT start on Sunday. The meet will also be the annual Beauty and the Beast meet in conjunction with OU wrestling. Both teams will compete at the same time, with wrestling taking on Big 12 affiliate member Northern Colorado.

STARTING STRONG
The Sooners opened the 2018 season with a statement win over preseason No. 16 Georgia. Oklahoma tallied the highest score in the nation this season with a 197.550 to Georgia's 196.600. The Sooners secured event titles on vault, bars and floor and claimed the top individual score on those three events as well. Freshman Anastasia Webb earned a 39.400 in the all-around in her collegiate debut.

HOME SWEET HOME
On Sunday, the Sooners will look to build upon their 87-4 all-time home record under 12th-year head coach K.J. Kindler. OU has claimed 25 straight victories in Norman, dating back to 2014.

COMING OUT ON TOP
The Sooners matched the highest score in the nation on Monday with a 197.550. Only two teams have reached the 197.5 threshold, with Michigan also recording a score of 197.550 in their second meet of the season. Oklahoma recorded the mark in its first meet of the season in a tough road environment, competing in sold-out arena of Georgia fans.  

CONFERENCE HONORS
Junior Brenna Dowell and freshman Anastasia Webb were named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Week and Newcomer of the Week, respectively, On Jan. 16. The pair were instrumental in the Sooners' road victory at Georgia last Monday as Dowell recorded three scores of at least 9.9 to pace the team. Dowell's incredible performance landed her the event title on vault with a 9.950 and a share of the floor title with a 9.900. Webb shined in her collegiate debut posting a 39.400 in the all-around.

ENTRANCES
The east entrances of Lloyd Noble Center will be open for general public and student access beginning at 1:15 p.m., 90 minutes prior to the start of the meet. ADA entrance will be at the lower south level.

Fans with reserved season tickets will have seats in sections LE3 or LE4, and the seat number info will be printed on the tickets. All reserved season ticket holders will also receive a Lloyd Noble Center concessions meal voucher to use during one home meet.

  • Oklahoma returns six previous NCAA All-Americans who own 16 total accolades: Natalie Brown (BB), Stefani Catour (UB, BB), Brenna Dowell (UB, FX), AJ Jackson (VT, UB, FX), Nicole Lehrmann (UB, BB), Maggie Nichols (VT, UB, FX).
  • OU was ranked No. 1 in the NACGC/W Preseason Coaches' Poll for the third straight season, receiving 33 of 50 first-place votes. It marked the eighth straight year the Sooners had been ranked in the top five nationally to begin the season.
  • All five of OU's regular season home matches will be televised live by Sooner Sports TV.
  • The Sooners' meets against Florida (Jan. 26) and Alabama (March 18) will air on the SECNetwork.
