Big 12 Announces Women's Basketball Schedule

NORMAN – The Big 12 Conference unveiled its women's basketball slate on Thursday, completing the University of Oklahoma's 2017-18 schedule. The Sooners will open league play on Dec. 28 at Lloyd Noble Center against Texas.

Head coach Sherri Coale's squad will play its remaining eight home conference games Jan. 4 vs. TCU, Jan. 14 vs. Baylor, Jan. 20 vs. Oklahoma State, Jan. 24 vs. Kansas, Jan. 31 vs. Kansas State, Feb. 3 vs. West Virginia, Feb. 21 vs. Iowa State and Feb. 24 vs. Texas Tech.

OU will play its nine road conference games Dec. 31 vs. Iowa State, Jan. 7 at Oklahoma State, Jan. 10 at Texas Tech, Jan. 17 at Kansas State, Jan. 27 at TCU, Feb. 5 at Baylor, Feb. 10 at Kansas, Feb. 17 at West Virginia and Feb. 27 at Texas.

The conference schedule features a full double-round robin format for the seventh consecutive season. Last year, the league sent six teams to the NCAA Tournament.

Oklahoma City and the Chesapeake Energy Arena will host the 2018 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship, March 2-5 (Friday-Monday). This marks the third consecutive year and sixth time overall that the Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship will be played in Oklahoma City, where the tournament will remain through 2019.

The Sooners return All-Big 12 selections Maddie Manning, Gabbi Ortiz and Vionise Pierre-Louis from last year's team that finished with a 23-10 overall record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Oklahoma appeared in its 18th straight NCAA Tournament last season, a run that ranks as the fifth-longest active streak in Division I. OU is just one of 10 Division I men's or women's basketball teams in the nation to make every NCAA Tournament since 2000.

The Sooners also announced a second exhibition game to their 2017-18 schedule. OU will host Central Oklahoma on Nov. 3 inside Lloyd Noble Center.

The remaining times and TV selections will be released at a later date.
