"I'm very pleased with our academic performance during a year we repeat as the NCAA national champions,” OU head coach Mark Williams said. “This has been a special team on the floor and in the classroom.”
The 12 All-Americans broke the previous school mark of nine, which was first achieved in 2006 and matched in 2014 and 2015.
As a team, the Sooners also finished fourth in the country with an overall GPA of 3.308, their highest academic ranking since the 1996 squad finished third nationally.
Four of the Sooner Scholar-Athletes also picked up All-American honors for their performances at the 2017 NCAA Championships. Of the first team Scholar-Athletes, Hoang landed All-American distinction on the rings, while Suzuki earned All-American status on the horizontal bar.
On the second team, Bower led the way with six All-American awards, doing so on the floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and in the all-around. Hunter Justus also earned multiple All-American awards on the rings and parallel bars.
