MANHATTAN, Kan. – Junior right-handed pitcher Devon Perez (Ashburn, Va.) pitched 6.2-shutout innings to deal the University of Oklahoma baseball team a 3-0 win over Kansas State at Tointon Family Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Sooners clinched their third road series in league play and moved to 32-17 overall and 10-8 in the Big 12. The Wildcats fell to 26-22 and 5-13.

Perez (5-2) struck out eight in the longest outing of his OU career. He scattered five hits and issued just one walk on 87 pitches three times through the K-State order. In the third inning, Perez got around a leadoff-double and stranded runner on the corners with a strikeout. He later left two in scoring position in the fifth with his fifth strikeout of the day.

The Sooners singled three times in the third and got on the board with a two-out single to right-center by senior third baseman Jack Flansburg (Orange, Calif.) to score sophomore left fielder Cade Harris (Leona, Texas) from second, who singled and stole a base.

Senior first baseman Austin O'Brien (Owasso, Okla.) doubled the Oklahoma lead with a line drive home run to right in the fourth. It was O'Brien's second home run of the series, seventh of the season and 17th of his career.

The Sooners went to the bullpen with a runner on second and two down in the seventh. After a walk put the tying run aboard, senior right-hander JB Olson (Shady Shores, Texas) came on as the second OU reliever of the inning. He fielded a ball hit back to the mound to strand both runners. In the eighth, Olson got two quick outs before K-State started a two-out rally. Catcher Josh Rolette doubled to put two runners in scoring position before Olson got a called strike three to escape the jam. He pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save of the season.

Looking for insurance in the top of the ninth, sophomore designated hitter Brylie Ware (Sedgwick, Kan.) crushed the first pitch he saw over the wall in center field for his second home run of the season.

Oklahoma returns home for its final series at L. Dale Mitchell Park this season against TCU beginning Friday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m.
