Game Notes

Team:

  • Oklahoma is 36-33 all-time in the Big 12 Championship and is 9-11 in conference tournament openers.
  • The Sooners faced Texas in the Big 12 Championship for the first time since 2008 and are now 1-4 against the Longhorns in conference postseason.

Steele Walker

  • Drove in his team-leading 49th and 50th runs of the year with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning that cut the Texas lead to 5-3.
  • First Sooner to record 50 RBI in a season since Matt Oberste drove in 60 in 2013.

Austin O'Brien:

  • Drove in the Sooners' first run of the game on an RBI infield single in the fourth inning. It was his 39th RBI of the year, the second most on the team (Steele Walker, 50).

Renae Martinez:

  • Went deep to left for a solo shot in the seventh inning that marked his seventh home run of the year. That long ball also gave Martinez his 37 RBI of the year.

Nathan Wiles:

  • Became the second OU freshman to start the Sooners' Big 12 Championship opener and the third in four years.
