NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma baseball team's Tuesday night contest against UT Arlington was canceled due to an extensive lightning storm in the area of L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Sooners and Mavericks had reached the middle of the second inning before entering a delay. The game started a 6:32 p.m., hit its delay at 7:35 and was ultimately called off at 9.
OU head coach Pete Hughes and UTA skipper Darrin Thomas attempted to wait out the storm in an effort to complete the game, but the weather did not cooperate as the storm intensified.
Oklahoma returns to action this weekend with a road series at West Virginia. The Sooners and Mountaineers begin play Friday, April 28 at 5:30 p.m. CT. The entire series can be heard on the Sooner Sports Network with the voice of the Sooners Toby Rowland on the call.
