TULSA, Okla. – The No. 10 University of Oklahoma baseball team dropped a narrow 3-2 contest to Oral Roberts at J.L. Johnson Stadium on Tuesday night. The Sooners fell to 27-9 overall, while the Golden Eagles improved to 23-9.

ORU put together a three-run inning in the fourth on two hits, two walks and an error. Center fielder Noah Cummings came through with the big hit; a two-run double to put the Golden Eagles in front, 2-1. After a pitching change, shortstop Dylan Snypes bunted on a squeeze play and OU was unable to get an out on a bobbled ball back to the mound.

It was the Sooners that threatened first, but settled for just one run and left the bases loaded in the third. Senior center fielder Ben Hollas (Longview, Texas), who walked, scored from this with one out and the bases loaded on a wild pitch. A walk to sophomore right fielder Steele Walker (Prosper, Texas) loaded the bases on the next batter, but Oklahoma failed to push across anymore runs.

An inning after Oral Roberts went in front, Oklahoma battled back in the top of the fifth. Hollas ripped a leadoff single through the left side, but was eliminated on a caught stealing. Freshman shortstop Brandon Zaragoza (Moore, Okla.) walked and scored from second on a single through the right side by Walker with one out. An out at home and a hard hit ball to right ended the threat.

Sophomore right-hander Austin Hansen (Lenexa, Kan.) lasted 3.1 innings in the start for the Sooners. He faced the minimum the first time through the order with a double play to erase a leadoff-single in the third. Hansen (3-1) suffered his first career loss as he allowed three runs on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Right-hander Logan Michaels pitched 4.1 innings in the start for ORU. He gave up two runs on three hits and five walks with three strikeouts. Righty Grant Glaze (2-0) earned the win as the first Golden Eagle reliever. He went 2.2-scoreless with one hit and a walk to go with three strikeouts. RHP Kyler Stout picked up his sixth save of the season and struck out the side around a one-out single.

The Sooners remain out of conference this weekend as they visit Michigan beginning Thursday, April 13 at 3 p.m. CT.
