NORMAN — Six members of the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team combined to secure a national-leading 14 regular season All-America honors from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W).

Seniors Chayse Capps and McKenzie Wofford, junior AJ Jackson, sophomores Brenna Dowell and Nicole Lehrmann and freshman Maggie Nichols all received recognition from the association.

In the five years that regular season All-America accolades have been awarded, Oklahoma has totaled double-digit honors four times.

Regular season All-America honors are based on an individual's final regional qualifying score (RQS) prior to regional competition. First team honorees are ranked 1-8 nationally, and second team designees are ranked 9-16.

Nichols paced the Sooners with five first-team honors, earning a spot on the teams for all four events and in the all-around, the only gymnast in the nation to accomplish the feat. Nichols, the 2017 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, is ranked in the top two on each apparatus and has held the top individual all-around spot all season.

For the second straight season, Capps earned three regular season All-America honors. The 2017 Big 12 Gymnast of the Year, Capps was named to the first team for beam and in the all-around and to the second team for floor. Capps has received recognition on beam in each of her seasons a Sooner (second team 2014, first team 2015 and 2016) and is now an eight-time NACGC/W All-American.

Jackson and Dowell were named All-Americans on a pair of events, with Jackson earning first-team honors on floor and second-team status vault. Dowell reached first-team status on vault and second team for bars. Jackson and Dowell have both earned four total accolades in their careers.

On bars, Wofford (first team) and Lehrmann (second team) also received recognition. The award was the third consecutive for Wofford and the second straight for Lehrmann.

The No. 1 overall seed Sooners will next compete at the NCAA Seattle Regional, where they will face No. 12 Kentucky, No. 13 Washington, No. 24 Utah State, Stanford and BYU on Saturday, April 1. The regional is set to begin at 6 p.m. CT inside Alaska Airlines Arena, and tickets are available for purchase online.
