No. 19/22 Oklahoma (18-6, 9-3 Big 12) goes for its ninth straight home win on Tuesday night as the Sooners host West Virginia (16-7, 4-7 Big 12) inside Lloyd Noble Center at 7 p.m. CT. The Sooners, who are in sole possession of third place in the Big 12 standings, are 12-1 at home this season. West Virginia enters Tuesday night's matchup after falling at home to Iowa State, 80-55, on Saturday. The Mountaineers won the first meeting this season in Morgantown, 83-73, on Jan. 8.
Tuesday's game will be televised on the Fox Sports Oklahoma with Bob Carpenter, Brenda VanLengen and Jessica Coody on the call. The contest will air on the Sooner Radio Network with Brian Brinkley calling the action.
Tickets are available starting at $8 at the OU Athletics Ticket Office (800-456-4668) and online here. Lloyd Noble Center's north and east ticket windows will open at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. OU students will be admitted free with a valid school I.D.
• West Virginia owns a 7-5 series lead against the Sooners, but OU is 3-2 all-time against the Mountaineers in Norman. In the first meeting of the season on Jan. 8, the Sooners could not overcome a slow start in Morgantown and a 17-point halftime deficit in their 83-83 loss to the Mountaineers. Peyton Little finished with a team-high 17 points.
• Tuesday's matchup two of the Big 12's top defensive teams. The Sooners rank third in the country with 149 blocked shots (6.2 per game) this season while West Virginia is fourth with 146 rejections (6.6 per game). OU leads the conference with 9.8 steals a game, while the Mountaineers are third at 8.9 swipes per contest. In Big 12 play, the Sooners rank third in scoring and field goal percentage defense, holding their opponents to 67.2 points per game on .390 shooting.
• OU has flourished at home, posting a +16.4 average scoring margin in its 13 games at Lloyd Noble Center and outshooting its opponents .455 to .358 from the field and .775 to .663 at the free throw line. Against Big 12 teams at home, the Sooners are averaging 78.8 points a contest on .454 field goal shooting and .374 3-point shooting. Peyton Little is averaging 15.5 points per game, while Vionise Pierre-Louis adds in 12.8 points and 7.5 rebounds a contest.
• The Sooners have been efficient at the free throw line over the last six games, posting an .853 (87-of-102) clip at the stripe. Freshman guard Chelsea Dungee leads the Sooners with a .952 mark (20-of-21), while Gabbi Ortiz is shooting .920 (13-of-14) from the foul line over the last six contests. Ortiz finished 8-for-8 at the line at Oklahoma State and has hit 10 straight free throws heading into Tuesday's game.
• Since the 2014-15 season, the Sooners are 21-3 against Big 12 opponents at home. This season, OU is averaging 76.5 points per game against league foes at Lloyd Noble Center with Peyton Little averaging 15.3 points per game in those contests.
• Junior guard Gabbi Ortiz scored 17 points to help No. 18 Oklahoma defeat Oklahoma State, 66-60, on Saturday afternoon. Redshirt senior guard Peyton Little and redshirt senior guard Maddie Manning each added 11 points for the Sooners, who swept the season series from the Cowgirls. Oklahoma won first meeting, 68-62, in Norman on Jan 22.
• Oklahoma led by 15 in the first half, squandered it, then rallied. OU made seven of its first 10 shots to take a 19-4 lead and force an Oklahoma State timeout. The Sooners led 23-10 at the end of the first quarter. Oklahoma State cut its deficit to 30-26 at halftime. The Cowgirls took the lead early in the third quarter, but Oklahoma withstood the surge and led 47-44 at the end of the period. Oklahoma held on by making 10 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter.
• The Sooners tied their season high with a .500 3-point shooting percentage as four different OU players knocked down at least one trey in the victory. OU was 14-of-16 from the free throw line in the game, finishing above 80 percent at the charity stripe for the sixth straight game.
• West Virginia, who is 2-4 in conference road games this season, enters Tuesday's game with a 16-7 overall record and a 4-7 mark in league play (in fifth place entering the week). The Mountaineers rank third in the country with 6.6 blocks per game this year. West Virginia is shooting .455 from the field (ranks third in the Big 12), .346 from deep (fifth) and .695 from the free throw line (fifth). The Mountaineers average 75.6 points per game (second), while holding foes to 60.7 points a contest (fourth). West Virginia is coming off an 80-55 home loss to Iowa State. In Big 12 play, the Mountaineers are averaging 68.6 points per game (fourth) on .417 field goal shooting (fourth), .364 3-point shooting (third) and .729 free throw shooting (fourth). They allow opponents to shoot .447 from the floor (ninth) and .382 from 3-point range (eighth), while allowing 74.3 points per game (eighth).
• Sophomore guard Tynice Martin leads a trio of Mountaineers who average double figures scoring. The sophomore is averaging 16.9 points (third in the Big 12), 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game (second) while shooting .396 from the floor, .320 from deep and .777 at the charity stripe. Junior forward Teana Muldrow is averaging 14.2 points (ranks ninth in the Big 12) and 7.8 boards per game (eighth). Senior center Lanay Montgomery pours in 12.0 points a game and ranks sixth in the nation with 3.3 blocks per contest.
• West Virginia head coach Mike Carey is 338-178 in his 16 seasons with the Mountaineers.
Freshman guard Chelsea Dungee scored 10 points and hit two treys at Oklahoma State on Saturday.
• OU has flourished at home, posting a +16.4 average scoring margin in its 13 games at Lloyd Noble Center and outshooting its opponents .445 to .358 from the field, .336 to .305 from 3-point range and .755 to .663 at the free throw line. During its eight-game home winning streak, OU is scoring 81.2 points per contest at Lloyd Noble Center.
• The trio of Peyton Little, Maddie Manning and Vionise Pierre-Louis is averaging double figures in scoring on their home floor this year. Manning leads the Sooners with 14.4 points per game and is shooting .460 from the field at Lloyd Noble Center. Little is second on the team with a 13.2 scoring average, while Pierre-Louis has recorded 10.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in OU's 13 home contests.
• The Sooners have been extremely efficient at the free throw line when playing in front of their home fans, shooting .755 (194-of-257) from the foul line. OU is averaging 14.9 makes at the charity stripe at home this year. Defensively, OU has blocked 96 shots (7.4 per game) through its first 13 home matchups.
• Redshirt senior guard Peyton Little has scored in double figures 18 times in 24 games this season, which leads the Sooners. At Oklahoma State, the redshirt senior scored 11 points to pass Janet Freeman-Southard (1,093, 1979-82) and LaNae Jones (1,096, 1993-96) for 29th on OU's all-time scoring chart.
• The Abilene, Texas, native has scored in double figures in eight straight games (season high). Little leads the Sooners in scoring during conference play with 14.0 points per game and is shooting .418 from the field. Sh
• On the defensive end, Little leads the Sooners with 1.9 steals per game in league play (ranks third in the Big 12).
• The Sooners are 13-0 this season and have won 34 straight games when posting a higher shooting percentage than their opponent. OU has also earned 28 consecutive victories (11-0 in 2016-17) when the Sooners win both the rebounding and turnover battle against their competition.
• Over the last three seasons, the Sooners are 21-3 against Big 12 opponents on their home floor. OU has won seven straight conference home games dating back to last season.
• The Sooners are not short on experience this season. Entering Tuesday's game, OU's roster boasts 371 career starts among 10 players who have made at least one career appearance in the Sooners' starting five. The foursome of Gioya Carter, Peyton Little, Maddie Manning and Gabbi Ortiz have combined to make 300 starts between them. OU's bench is laden with experience, including T'ona Edwards and Vionise Pierre-Louis who have played in 118 and 87 career games, respectively.
• Against Kansas, the Sooners posted a season-best .593 shooting percentage, which ranks as the second-best clip by a Big 12 team in league play this season.
• OU's 13 blocked shots against Kansas on Feb. 1 are tied for the 10th-most by a Division I team this season. The 13 blocks by the Sooners are also tied for the second-most in a single game by Oklahoma.
• At Texas on Jan. 19, the Sooners knocked down 18 straight free throws to conclude the game against the Longhorns. OU's .947 free throw percentage set a season high. The 18 consecutive free throws made tied a school record and are the most against a Big 12 opponent in school history. OU ranks 19th in the nation with 348 made free throws.
• Maddie Manning's 10 steals against Portland State on Dec. 21 rank are tied for the most by a Division I player in a single game this season and the most by an OU player in one game since 1996.
• The Sooners have been ranked in the AP Poll for 36 consecutive weeks (tied for the 10th-longest active streak in the country). OU has been ranked in the AP poll 256 times under Sherri Coale.
The Sooners wrap up the season series with Texas Tech on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. CT inside United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest +/Fox Sports Oklahoma.
