NORMAN Following a strong performance in its home quad meet, the Oklahoma women's gymnastics team remained atop the national rankings this week. The Sooners recorded a 197.675 in their first-place finish over No. 8 Denver, No. 20 Nebraska and TWU on Friday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.

This marks the fourth straight week the Sooners, who are averaging a 197.760, have been the No. 1 team in the nation. The rest of the top five also remained unchanged this week, with LSU ranked second with a 197.555 average. Florida (197.430), Utah (196.950) and UCLA (196.750) round out the top five.

The Sooners are ranked first on three of four events, coming in first on bars (49.460), beam (49.410) and floor (49.475), while holding second on vault (49.415).

Individually, six Sooners are ranked in the top 25 on at least one event. For the third straight week, freshman Maggie Nichols is ranked in at least a tie for first place on all four events and in the all-around. Nichols sits first in the all-around (39.785) and on bars (9.945), beam (9.945) and floor (9.955) and is tied for the top spot on vault (9.940).

Senior Chayse Capps is tied for seventh place in the all-around with an average of 39.469. She is also ranked on three events, tying for 14th place on vault (9.885), 22nd on bars (9.860) and 10th on floor (9.906).

Junior AJ Jackson is ranked on both of her events, tying for sixth on vault (9.905) and sitting 15th on floor (9.890). Junior Stefani Catour is now ranked in a tie for 25th on beam with an average of 9.850, while sophomores Brenna Dowell and Nicole Lehrmann chick in at 18th on vault (9.880) and tied for fifth on bars (9.900), respectively.

Up next, Oklahoma will stay in its home state for the Perfect 10 Challenge, held at 6:45 p.m. CT on Friday, Feb. 10, inside Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. The Sooners will take on No. 16 Auburn in the meet. Tickets cost $15 and are available at the Cox Convention Center Box Office or at CoxConventionCenter.com. University students gain free admission with valid I.D.
