MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – No. 20/24 Oklahoma could not overcome a slow start Sunday on the road at No. 17/16 West Virginia, falling, 83-73, to the Mountaineers at WVU Coliseum.
Down 42-25 at halftime, OU (12-4, 3-1 Big 12) mounted a comeback effort in the third quarter and eventually trimmed the deficit down to just five points at the 8:53 mark in the final frame, but West Virginia (14-2, 2-2 Big 12) would respond with five quick points to push its advantage back to double figures.
Peyton Little scored a team-high 17 points and finished with five rebounds, while Gabbi Ortiz added in 13 of her 15 points in the second half. Little is now just nine points away from becoming the 32nd Sooner to record 1,000 career points at Oklahoma.
T'ona Edwards contributed 11 points to finish in double figures for the fifth time this season. Vionise Pierre-Louis recorded nine points and a team-high six rebounds off the bench.
