MB-Marion Hazelwood Hazelwood is hitting .355 against Top-25 opponents over the last two weeks and is a career .328 hitter against TCU. She posted a 12-kill, 10-block double-double in Fort Worth last season.

NORMAN, Okla. – A run of ranked opponents comes to an end for the University of Oklahoma volleyball team as it visits TCU for its first of six on the road in its next seven matches. The Sooners are coming off a stretch of three-consecutive Top-10 opponents and have played four of their last five matches against the AVCA Top-25. OU and Horned Frogs face off from The Rickel at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 1.

The Sooners dropped a thrilling four-set match to No. 4 Texas at home on Wednesday night to fall to 9-6 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12. Oklahoma is winless in its first two league matches in back-to-back years for the first time since Santiago Restrepo's first two years at the helm of the program in 2004 and 2005. Redshirt-senior outside hitter Madison Ward leads an OU attack that features five players averaging better than 2.40 kills per set as she has tallied 3.00 per set. Senior middle blocker Micaela Spann is fifth at 2.48, but is hitting at a team-best .415 clip. Junior middle blocker Marion Hazelwood is coming off a career-high 19 kills against Texas that pushed her average to 2.58 on a .341 hitting percentage.

TCU is 9-4 overall and 2-1 in Big 12 play after a sweep of Texas Tech at home, a 3-1 victory over Iowa State on the road and a 3-2 loss at West Virginia. The Horned Frogs are third in the Big 12 standings. Middle blocker Reagan McGuire leads the team in kills with an average of 2.37 per set on an attack rate of .341, followed by outside hitter Sarita Mikals with 2.34 kills per set and a .192 attack rate. Setter Kaylee Smith has dished out 289 assists this season for 5.67 per set, while outside hitter Jillian Bergeson leads the team in digs with 3.38 per set.

All-Time vs. TCU

The Sooners own the series 10-3, with four wins in Fort Worth. TCU has won the last two meetings on its home court; each a five-set victory. In Big 12 matches, beginning in 2012, Oklahoma holds a 6-2 advantage. The teams met for the first time in November of 2004, when the Horned Frogs topped the Sooners 3-1 in Norman.

Last Time They Met

The Sooners swept TCU 3-0 in Norman late last season; 25-22, 25-21, 26-24. Outside hitter Kimmy Gardiner collected her 10th double-double of the season against the Horned Frogs, swinging a season-high .600 on 11 kills with 12 digs and four assists. Oklahoma led in every category except blocks. Sooner hitter Kierra Holst owned the match-high in kills with 17, libero Rachel Manriquez tallied 16 digs and setter Audrey Alford had 39 assists, while TCU's Reagan McGuire owned four blocks in addition to leading the Horned Frogs' attack with 10 kills.

Playing Like an All-American

Marion Hazelwood is a two-time AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, as well as the 2014 AVCA Southwest Rookie of the Year, through the first two full seasons of her career. Over the course of Oklahoma's four recent matches against AVCA Top-25 teams, Hazelwood has hit an impressive .355 and averaged 3.14 kills per set. She set a career-high in kills with 19 against No. 4 Texas (9/28), while hitting .500 with two errors on 34 attacks.

By the Numbers: OU vs. TCU

Redshirt-senior outside hitter Madison Ward has averaged 3.17 kills per set in six career matches against TCU. She has reached double figures five times, including 18 in a three-set win and 18 in a five-set loss; both in 2014. Defensively, she has added 2.62 digs and 0.54 blocks per set. Junior middle blocker Marion Hazelwood is a .328 hitter in three matches against the Horned Frogs. She has averaged 2.73 kills and 1.45 blocks, including a 12-kill, 10-block double-double effort in Fort Worth in 2015.

The Home Crowd

The Sooners hosted No. 4 Texas in front of a crowd of 1,874 at McCasland Field House on September 28. It marked the seventh largest home crowd in program history. Each of the Sooners' last four home matches against the Longhorns ranks in the top-10 for home attendance.
