IRVING, Texas – University of Oklahoma baseball junior Alec Hansen picked up the team's first weekly award from the Big 12 as a Co-Pitcher of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. A right-handed pitcher out of Loveland, Colo., Hansen's honor marks the first of his career.

Making his first start since the Sooners' Big 12 opener on March 24, Hansen tossed six-shutout innings in a run-rule shortened, seven-inning, 12-0 win over Kansas State on Sunday. He took a no-hitter into the sixth inning that was broken up by a leadoff, bunt-single. Hansen saw only three baserunners reach against him as he allowed just two hits and one walk. He struck out nine; his second highest total of the season.

Hansen, an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention a year ago, has made just seven starts on the season and Sunday's win was his first of the year. He is 1-4 with a 5.06 earned run average and 55 strikeouts in 37.1 innings of work.

The Sooners, who finished their home slate by winning all four Big 12 series in Norman, return to action this weekend for the Bedlam Series. Game one against Oklahoma State will be Friday, May 13 at 6:30 pm at Oklahoma City's Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU. The remaining two games of the series will be played Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm at Tulsa's ONEOK Field.
