NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma baseball team finishes its home schedule with four games at home this week beginning Tuesday night against Oral Roberts. First pitch is set for 6:00 pm from L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Sooners salvaged a Sunday win in a series at Kansas to enter the week at 21-22-1 overall and 7-11 in the Big 12, which is good enough for sixth place; two games back of Texas for fourth. Junior shortstop Sheldon Neuse is Oklahoma's top hitter at .374 with a .690 slugging percentage and .468 on-base percentage. He has driven in 36 runs with 12 doubles and nine home runs. Senior right fielder Alex Wise is second on the team with a .308 average. He has scored 27 runs and smacked 12 doubles. Over the last 15 games, freshman outfielder Steele Walker has lifted his batting average to .284 by hitting .400 (22-for-50). On the season, he has totaled a team-high 14 doubles with 24 runs scored and 22 driven in. Junior Jack Flansburg, who has started multiple games at all four infield positions, has scored a team-leading 30 runs with 27 RBI, while hitting .276. Freshman right-hander Dylan Grove (0-0), a product of Moore High School and Oklahoma City, gets the ball for his first career start on Tuesday. He owns a 3.86 earned run average with nine strikeouts in seven innings across seven relief appearances.

Oral Roberts is 26-15 overall and 15-6 in the Summit League with an impressive 15-3 mark at its home ballpark. The Golden Eagles are hitting a collective .303, including seven players hitting .300 or better; led by right fielder Noah Cummings at .354 with 29 RBI. Catcher Matt Whatley is second at .342 with seven home runs, 37 runs and 36 RBI. Center fielder Nick Rotola chips in with a .324 average, 35 runs and 30 RBI. Lefty Trevor McCutchin (2-1) gets the nod on the bump for Oral Roberts. He has made nine appearances with two starts and owns a 6.19 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 16 innings.

Oklahoma had a six-game win streak snapped in a 5-0 loss at Oral Roberts (3/22). Sooner pitchers, including a three-inning start from senior right-hander Keaton Hernandez, kept the Golden Eagles hitless through four. ORU then posted four runs on three hits and an error in the sixth. Matt Whatley, who went 2-for-4 got the scoring started with a RBI-triple. Right-hander Cale Tims got the win in 6.2-shutout innings with four strikeouts. Sheldon Neuse and Steele Walker each went 2-for-4 for Oklahoma.

As a team, Oklahoma ranks 17th with a .977 fielding percentage, which is tops in the Big 12. The Sooners are also 18th in the country with 44 double plays turned.

Oklahoma posted its best home run total since 2011 with 39 in 2015. This year OU has hit 36 with 11 regular season games left to play. The Sooners hit a season-high four in a 7-6 win over Baylor (4/10). It was the most since OU went yard four times against Purdue (3/8/15). Sheldon Neuse is OU's active career leader with 22, which is second among active Big 12 players, followed by Hunter Haley at 16.

Young Arms

Sooner freshmen pitchers have combined for 13 of the team's 21 wins; the second highest total in the Big 12. Collectively, OU freshmen have posted a 3.87 ERA, 7.05 K/9 average and 1.77 K-to-BB ratio. Chris Andritsos and Austin Hansen have each won four games, while Jake Irvin has struck out a class-leading 36 with three wins.
