Legendre Takes Bronze on Floor at Osijek

Osijek, Croatia – University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics assistant coach Steven Legendre took home the bronze medal on floor Saturday at the Grand Prix Osijek, finishing in a tie for third with a score of 14.875.

Legendre, an alternate for Team USA at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is competing internationally to ramp up for another Olympic run this summer. OU's first-year assistant has already qualified to the U.S. Senior National Team with his performance at the Winter Cup in February.

Legendre tied for third with Team USA teammate Paul Ruggeri. He also placed eighth on rings with a score of 14.525.

The 6-time NCAA champion and Nissen-Emery Award winner will compete in the event final on vault on Sunday. He qualified for the event in fifth place with a two-score average of 15.025

In addition to Legendre and Ruggeri, Sean Melton, also of Team USA, competed on Saturday. He placed seventh on rings with a mark of 14.650. Melton will compete in the parallel bars event final on Sunday. Ruggeri will compete on high bar and vault. Live scoring, as well as more information about the competition, is available here.
