Results AUSTIN, Texas – The Oklahoma women's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 34 Texas on the road Sunday at the Whitaker Tennis Courts in Austin, Texas.
The Sooners (7-9, 2-2 Big 12) opened the match by dropping the doubles point. Texas' No. 17 duo of Breaunna Addison and Dani Wagland got the win at No. 1 over OU's Lily Miyazaki and Emma Devine, 6-1.
OU fought back at No. 2, as Zita Engbroks and Christie Brigante battled back from a 5-2 deficit to take the match, 7-5, over the Longhorns' Neda Koprcina and Daniella Roldan.
The Longhorns (10-6, 2-2 Big 12) clinched the doubles point after Chelsea Crovetti and Katie Poluta defeated OU's Mimi Fotopoulos and Malene Stripp, 7-5.
The Sooners rallied in singles play and quickly tied the match at 1-1. Brigante grabbed a win on court five with her second straight-set victory of the weekend, 6-3, 6-4, over UT's Roldan.
Texas won the next three matches to seal the victory. On court one, UT's No. 12 Addison topped No. 110 Miyazaki, 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Simran Sethi was defeated by Texas' Poluta, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 4 position. The clinching point came on court two as OU's No. 120 Devine fell to the Longhorns' Koprcina, 6-3, 6-3.
The Sooners are back in action next Saturday as they host Oklahoma State for Bedlam in Norman. The match is set for noon at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman.
