Legendre Continues Qualifying in Croatia

Osijek, Croatia – University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics assistant coach Steven Legendre continued his competition at the 2016 Grand Prix Osijek in Osijek, Croatia on Friday as qualifying continued with routines on parallel bars and vault.

Legendre, an alternate for Team USA at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is ramping up for another Olympic run this summer. OU's first-year assistant has already qualified to the U.S. Senior National Team with his performance at the Winter Cup in February.

Legendre, who qualified in first on floor and eighth on rings on Thursday, added another qualifying event on Friday. He turned in scores of 14.950 and 15.100 on vault to place fifth with an average of 15.025.

In addition to Legendre, prospective Olympians Paul Ruggeri and Sean Melton are also in competition this weekend. Melton qualified for the event final on parallel bars, scoring a 14.850 to place third. Ruggeri qualified in sixth place on vault, just one spot behind Legendre, with an average of 14.850. He also placed third on high with a 14.900.

Event finals begin Saturday with floor, pommel horse and rings. Live scoring, as well as more information about the competition, is available here.
