Notes:

  • Oklahoma hosted a Bedlam game for the first time since April 1, 2014.
  • The Sooners started three freshmen; marking the 24th time in the last 27 games and 25th overall that OU has started three freshmen or more.
  • Jake Irvin struck out the side in the first and second. He has struck out the side four times this season, having last done so at Texas Tech (3/26).
  • Irvin became the first Sooner to strike out five in a row since Jon Gray vs. Texas Tech (4/27/13) and first with six in a row since J.R. Robinson at Kansas (5/22/10).
  • Irvin struck out a season-high 10 on the night. He previously struck out five in a win over Dallas Baptist (4/5). He became the first Sooner to strike out 10 or more in a game since Alec Hansen at UCLA (3/5).
  • Oklahoma pitchers have combined for double digit strikeouts in 10 games this season with 14 on the night. The Sooners previous high was 13 against Wichita State (3/8).
  • Sheldon Neuse recorded the fifth two-double game of his career. He picked up his team-leading 17th multi-hit game of the season and 56th of his career.
  • Neuse lifted his season total to 11 doubles and 38 in his career.
  • Steele Walker added his seventh multi-hit game of the season. He is hitting .448 (13-for-29) in the last nine games.
  • Oklahoma is just 4-12 against Oklahoma State in the last four seasons with eight of the last 11 losses coming by three runs or less.
  • The Sooners are 4-5 in one-run games and 6-9 in games decided by two runs or less.
