NORMAN – Oklahoma women's basketball's Kaylon Williams will begin her professional career with the Los Angeles Sparks. The Midwest City, Okla., native will participate in training camp with the two-time WNBA champions starting April 24.

Williams will travel to Los Angeles on Thursday and will take part in the Sparks' training camp. Los Angeles begins their three-game preseason schedule on Saturday, May 7 against the Atlanta Dream.

“It's a blessing to be invited to training camp,” Williams said. “I'm excited to learn from some great players and coaches during camp. I can't wait to enjoy the experience and show what I can do.”

Williams finished her career at OU fourth in school history in offensive rebounds and field goal percentage, ninth in blocked shots and 27th all-time in scoring. During her final two seasons at Oklahoma, Williams was a two-time All-Big 12 Second Team selection. She was also nominated for the Senior CLASS Award.

“We're incredibly excited for Kay Kay to have this opportunity with LA,” OU head coach Sherri Coale said. “WNBA rosters are very difficult to make right now—the competition for spots is fierce.  This weekend will be important exposure for her to both the heightened level of play and the business of professional basketball. We're obviously extremely proud of her and will be supporting her every step of the way."

As a senior, Williams led the Sooners with 12.4 points per game and 7.1 rebounds a contest. During her junior season, she ranked fourth in the nation with a .596 shooting percentage and averaged 12.2 points per game. She finished her collegiate career with 1,173 points.

The Sparks finished last season in fourth place in the Western Conference with a 14-20 record.
