Sooners Recognize Their Own

NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's basketball team honored its own at its annual postseason banquet Monday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners finished their season after making their 17^th consecutive NCAA Tournament, a run that now ranks as the fifth longest streak among active Division I teams.

OU's lone senior Kaylon Williams was honored with three awards Monday night. During her final season as a Sooner, Williams was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team for the second consecutive season and became the 31^st player in school history to join the 1,000-point scorers' club.

The Midwest City, Okla., native finished her career fourth in career field goal percentage at OU, ninth in blocks and offensive rebounds as well as 27^th in scoring.

Williams was named the team's MVP for the second straight year and also earned the Monster Board Award for leading the Sooners in rebounding with 7.1 boards per game. OU's leading scorer at 12.1 points per game, she also took home the Charge Award.

2016 Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year Vionise Pierre-Louis was recognized as the team's offensive MVP after averaging 9.3 points a contest off the bench and ranking third in the conference with a .577 shooting percentage. She was also honored with the Foxhole Award for best teammate.

Junior guard T'ona Edwards was honored as the team's defensive MVP. She was also honored with the Mojo Award, for the player who often creates game changing momentum.

Junior Derica Wyatt was named Most Improved after leading the Sooners with a career-best 51 made 3-pointers. She also received the 'Shoush' Award for hustle and effort.

Sophomore Gabbi Oritz was honored with the Nail, given to the player who illustrates mental and physical toughness. For the second straight season, redshirt junior Maddie Manning took home the Glue Award for the player who embodies the togetherness that bonds a team throughout a season.

Additionally, April Franklin was honored with the Sooner Service Award while Sarah Roberts received the Mary Jane Noble Humanitarian Award.
