Sideline to Showtime; Plank Joins Sooner Sports

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma baseball and softball teams will once again air local radio broadcasts in the Norman area with baseball on KREF 1400 and softball on KEBC 1560. The Sooner baseball team will have 54 of 55 regular season games broadcast, while the softball schedule features the most extensive coverage in program history with all 54 games to air.

Toby Rowland will anchor the play-by-play coverage for baseball following the end of the OU men's basketball season. Chris Plank moves from his spot as dugout reporter on baseball broadcasts to the booth as the play-by-play voice on softball games. Plank, the sideline reporter on OU football broadcasts, joined Sooner Sports Properties full time in the fall of 2015.

Softball gets the action underway on Friday, February 12 against Minnesota at the Sportco Kick Off Classic in Las Vegas. Baseball first takes to the field a week later on Friday, February 19 against Northeastern at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Sooners host the Huskies for four games that weekend with three of the games to be broadcast. Former KWTV anchor and sports reporter Ed Murray will have the call for opening weekend.

Baseball's communications director Brendan Flynn will fill in on select road series during the baseball season and Sooner alum Ross Hubbard will provide color commentary on all Big 12 series.

Big 12 conference series for baseball will air across the Sooner Sports Network throughout the state plus midweek contests against Oral Roberts, Dallas Baptist, Oklahoma State, Wichita State and Missouri.

Radio broadcasts will also be available to be streamed on the respective websites of each station as well as the TuneIn radio app available on mobile devices. Baseball games aired across the Sooner Sports Network will also be available on SoonerSports.tv.

Sooner Sports TV will total 33 broadcasts from L. Dale Mitchell Park and Marita Hynes Field. The OU baseball team will be televised 17 times, while softball will be featured in 16 broadcasts. Sooner baseball's first television broadcast will take place on Tuesday, March 8 against Wichita State followed by a Sooner softball broadcast on Friday, March 11 against Saint Louis.

Games broadcast by Sooner Sports TV will air across the FOX Sports family of networks, including FOX Sports Oklahoma, FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Southwest-Plus and FOX College Sports-Central. Sooner Sports TV games will also be available for stream on the FOXSPORTSGO app on mobile devices through a cable provider log-in. Additional home games will be streamed online at SoonerSports.tv and available with a premium subscription.

Chad McKee will once again anchor the coverage from the booth as a play-by-play announcer on both sports. He will be joined by color commentators George Frazier (baseball), D.J. Sanchez (softball), Jessica Schults (softball) and Mickey Tettleton (baseball). KFOR sports director Brian Brinkley will also be heard in the booth calling play-by-play on home softball games.

Each team will also be featured multiple times throughout the season in nationally televised broadcasts. Baseball will air nationally on four occasions, including a home game against Texas to air on FS1 on Friday, April 1. Additionally, OU baseball will be featured on FS1 at TCU on Friday, April 15, ESPNU at TCU on Sunday, April 17 and ESPN in a Bedlam match-up with Oklahoma State in Oklahoma City on Friday, May 13. Softball will appear on ESPN2 twice with games at Baylor on Sunday, April 10 and at home against Texas on Saturday, April 16. OU softball will also air on FSN for a home game against Kansas on Sunday, April 3.
