TUESDAY'S GAME BASICS

No. 21/19 Oklahoma (16-6, 7-4 Big 12) returns to the road and takes on Kansas State (14-8, 4-7 Big 12) Tuesday night at 7 p.m. CT inside Bramlage Coliseum. The Sooners, who are 7-4 away from home (5-3 in true road games; 2-3 in Big 12 play), picked up a 77-64 victory inside Lloyd Noble Center on Saturday over TCU. The Sooners won the previous meeting against K-State, 68-58, on Jan. 10 in Norman. The Wildcats (14-8, 4-7 Big 12) have dropped three straight games (all by doubles figures) heading into Tuesday night's contest. Kansas State is 10-3 at home this season.

Tuesday's game will air on Fox College Sports Central with Brian Smoller and Missy Heidrick announcing. The contest will also air on the Sooner Radio Network with Chris Plank calling the action.


FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

• Oklahoma has won 16 out of the last 17 meetings against Kansas State and leads the all-time series., 37-23. The Sooners are 15-11 versus the Wildcats in games played in Manhattan, but have won six out of the last seven matchups at Bramlage Coliseum.

• In this season's previous meeting on Jan. 10 in Norman, four Sooners scored in doubles figures as OU picked up a 68-58 victory over Kansas State. Vionise Pierre-Louis led the Sooners with a career-high 15 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Kaylon Williams posted 14 points while Derica Wyatt and Gabbi Ortiz chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

• Pierre-Louis leads the Big 12 in field goal percentage, shooting .620 from the field heading into Tuesday night's contest. The sophomore center also ranks first in conference play with a .632 shooting percentage among Big 12 players. Over the last six games, Pierre-Louis has registered a .711 clip (27-of-38) and averaged 11.5 points in 14.5 minutes per game. She scored 11 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter Saturday against TCU.

Derica Wyatt

Derica Wyatt knocked down two 3-pointers and finished with 11 points off the bench in OU's 77-64 victory over TCU last Saturday.

• Williams is seventh in the Big 12 and 23rd nationally with a .557 shooting percentage. The redshirt senior is averaging a career-best 13.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game (leads the team in both categories) through 22 games. Williams and Kansas State's Breanna Lewis are one of three players in the Big 12 to rank in the top 10 in the conference in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage.

Gioya Carter has provided a spark for the Sooners since return to the starting five on Jan. 20. The junior guard tied for a team-high with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in OU's victory over TCU last Saturday. As a starter, Carter is averaging 11.5 points per game with a .459 shooting percentage (28-of-61). The junior has scored in double figures in four consecutive games.


GAME 22 RECAP: TCU

• Behind a 10-0 fourth-quarter run, the No. 20/19 Oklahoma women's basketball team pulled away from TCU for a 77-64 victory last Saturday inside Lloyd Noble Center.

Vionise Pierre-Louis finished the contest with 14 points, all coming in the second half. The sophomore center tallied 11 of her 14 in the final quarter, finishing the game 5-of-6 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free throw line against TCU. The Sooners were paced by redshirt senior Kaylon Williams and junior Gioya Carter, who tallied 15 points each on 5-of-8 and 5-of-9 shooting from the field, respectively. Williams, who also grabbed seven rebounds and a career-high five assists, finished in double-figures for the 19th time this season and the 26th time in her last 30 games.

Derica Wyatt poured in 10 points off the bench for the Sooners in 23 minutes of action as the junior finished in doubles figures for the first time since scoring 11 at Texas on Jan. 23. Maddie Manning tied a career-high with three blocks, while finishing with nine points and six rebounds against the Horned Frogs.

• OU opened both halves with 8-0 runs, but the Sooners could not pull away from TCU. Down 55-52 with 8:04 left in the fourth quarter, OU used a 10-0 run and took advantage of five TCU turnovers to retake the lead for good. The Sooners held TCU, the Big 12's leader in 3-point shooting percentage, to just two treys and a .133 mark from behind the arc.


PREVIEWING KANSAS STATE

• Picked by the Big 12 coaches to finish seventh in the league, Kansas State is 14-8 overall and 4-7 in conference play. K-State averages 65.4 points per game (ranks eighth in the Big 12) on a .409 field goal percentage (seventh), .320 3-point shooting (fourth) and .645 free throw shooting (eighth). The Wildcats have been held to under 60 points seven times in the last eight games. K-State leads the Big 12 with 9.7 steals per game and have committed the second-fewest turnovers in the league with 333 in 22 games.

• Junior center Breanna Lewis is fourth in the conference in scoring (16.0 ppg) and is eighth in the Big in rebounding (7.0 rpg). Lewis, who is shooting .553 from the field, also averages 2.5 blocks per contest. Junior guard Kindred Wesemann leads the Big 12 with 2.6 3-pointers per game and is 13th in the league in scoring with 12.8 rebounds per contest. She also leads the conference in free throw percentage with a .877 clip. Shaelyn Martin leads the Wildcats in rebounding and is seventh in the Big 12 with 7.1 rebounds per contest.

• Kansas State is under the direction of head coach Jeff Mittie, who is in his second season with the Wildcats (33-23 record). Mittie is 487-257 overall in his 24 seasons as a head coach.

• Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 37-23, against Kansas State with the Sooners winning 16 out of the last 17 meetings since against the Wildcats since 2004. The Sooners are 15-11 against K-State in Manhattan.

• The Sooners swept both meetings between the two teams last season. OU won 66-58 in Norman. The Sooners wrapped up the sweep with a 73-64 victory last season in Manhattan as Peyton Little poured in a career-high 30 points and knocked down eight 3-pointers. OU head coach Sherri Coale is 22-5 against the Wildcats during her tenure with the Sooners. Coale is 3-0 against Kansas State head coach Jeff Mittie.


VPL = EFFICIENT

• Sophomore center Vionise Pierre-Louis leads the Big 12 with a .620 field goal percentage through 22 games. In the last five contests, Pierre-Louis has averaged 12.8 points per game with a gaudy .703 field goal percentage (26-of-37).

• Pierre-Louis, who scored a career-high 23 points at Texas, finished with 14 points against TCU on Saturday in just 11 minutes of action. The sophomore tallied 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Sooners prevailed with a 13-point win.

• In Big 12 play, Pierre-Louis is shooting .632 (36-of-57) from the field against league foes.


QUICK HITTERS

• The Sooners are 9-2 at home this season and have won 21 out of 24 contest at Lloyd Noble Center dating back to last season.

• Nine OU players are averaging double-figure minutes for the Sooners through 22 games. Maddie Manning (27.7) Gabbi Ortiz (27.7) and Peyton Little (31.0) are averaging 25-plus minutes per contest.

• Through 22 games, OU's opponents are 227-of-342 (.664) from the free throw line during the 2015-16 season. At this point last year, OU's foes were 329-of-485 (.678) from the charity stripe.

• Oklahoma is holding opponents to 10.3 made free throws per game this season, compared to 15.4 per game last season (5.1 less per game through 22 contests).

• The Sooners have kept teams away from the free throw line this season by committing just 383 fouls (17.4 per game) through 22 games this year. At this point a year ago, the Sooners had recorded 467 fouls (21.2 per game).

• The Sooners average 31.0 points per game in the paint. This season 682 of 1,563 total points (43.6 percent) have come through the paint, while holding foes to 25.2 points per game in the post. OU also has outscored its opponents by 4.8 points per game off turnovers on the year (18.9-14.1).

• Oklahoma is 10-2 this season when leading at halftime. The Sooners are 5-3 when trailing at the intermission this season. OU is 14-0 this season when outrebounding its opponent and is 15-1 when holding foes to under 70 points. The Sooners are 13-1 when scoring 70 or more points against a foe this year.

• OU has also held 17 of its 22 opponents to sub-45 percent field goal shooting (14 times in the last 19 games). Texas (.508) is the only opponent to shoot over 50 percent from the field against Oklahoma. The Sooners have also limited 15 of its 22 foes to sub 33-percent 3-point shooting.

• The Sooners are 208-115 (.644) against Big 12 competition under Sherri Coale.

• Coale will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame on June 11, 2016, in Knoxville, Tenn. Coale is OU's all-time leader in wins (436), leading the Sooners to three Final Fours and 16 straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

• The Sooners return the majority of their production in every statistical category for 2015-16. That includes 81 percent of the team's points and rebounds, along with 85 percent of its assists, 81 percent of its blocks and 78 percent of its steals. OU also brings back 80 percent of its made 3-point field goals and its free throw production. 11 letterwinners return from last season's squad that combined to play 5,377 minutes a year ago.
